Business Plan 2025–2030

Following a successful renewal ballot in 2025, Westside BID enters its third five-year term with an ambitious plan for the area and a total levy investment of approximately £8 million across the period. The Business Plan 2025–2030 was developed through extensive consultation with members, Birmingham City Council and key stakeholders, and sets out five priority areas to guide how every pound of levy income is spent.

1. Public realm investment We will continue the programme of street improvements across Broad Street, Brindleyplace and Centenary Square — better lighting, cleaner paving, greener planting and small but meaningful interventions that improve how the area looks and feels at all hours of the day and night.

2. Member services A refreshed programme of networking events, business support workshops and one-to-one introductions will help members get more from their BID membership and from each other. Member satisfaction and retention are key performance indicators for this term.

3. Marketing and promotion Year-round campaigns to attract visitors, diners and office workers to Westside, working closely with West Midlands Growth Company, VisitBirmingham and local venues. Our target is to grow the number of events delivered each year and increase measurable footfall across the district.

4. Safer streets Continued investment in the Westside Wardens programme, the Hotel Watch radio network and data-led crime prevention activity alongside West Midlands Police. A safe Westside is the foundation everything else is built on.

5. Wellbeing and workplace Expanding our Wellbeing Hub provision — including mental health first aid training for businesses, lunchtime fitness programmes, and the Westside Walks series — to support the health and productivity of the thousands of people who work in the area every day.

The levy is distributed across these five themes proportionate to member priorities as expressed in the ballot process, with public realm and safer streets together accounting for the largest share. You can read the summary above or download the full PDF for the detailed budget breakdown and KPIs.
